Building Permit required?

Taylor Township and the State of Pennsylvania typically do not require a Building Permit for "routine maintenance. and repairs".

You do not need a Building Permit for replacement windows, installing a new roof and other minor repairs. A Building Permit is required for any structural changes or additions to your residence.

If you are adding an addition that is attached to your house, a permit is almost always required.  If you add a garage that is attached to your house, a Building Permit is required.

If you build a detached garage or accessory building that is less than 1,000 square feet, a building permit is not required.
